The Tata Memorial Centre (TMC) has announced a significant advancement in their research, revealing that dying cancer cells release cell-free chromatin particles (cfChPs), or fragments of chromosomes, which have the potential to transform healthy cells into cancerous ones.

Mumbai: The Tata Institute, a leading cancer research and treatment center in India, located in Mumbai, has announced a breakthrough discovery. They claim to have developed a treatment that can effectively prevent cancer from recurring. After a decade of dedicated research, the institute’s team of researchers and doctors has created a tablet that they believe can significantly reduce the chances of cancer recurrence in patients. Moreover, they assert that this treatment will also cut down the side effects of treatments such as radiation and chemotherapy by 50 percent.
Dr. Rajendra Badve, a senior cancer surgeon at Tata Memorial Hospital and a member of the research team, explained, “In our research, human cancer cells were introduced into rats, leading to the development of tumors. Subsequently, the rats underwent a comprehensive treatment regimen involving radiation therapy, chemotherapy, and surgery. Our findings revealed that upon the death of these cancer cells, they fragmented into minuscule units known as Chromatin particles. These particles have the ability to circulate through the bloodstream and, upon entering healthy cells, can induce cancerous transformations.”

In their research, the Tata Memorial Centre (TMC) revealed that dying cancer cells release cell-free chromatin particles (cfChPs), also known as fragments of chromosomes. These particles have the potential to transform healthy cells into cancerous ones, and in some cases, they may even fuse with healthy chromosomes, leading to the formation of new tumors.

About cancer tablet :-Dr. Badve informed NDTV that in an effort to address this issue, doctors administered pro-oxidant tablets containing resveratrol and copper (R+Cu) to the rats. The R+Cu tablets generate oxygen radicals, which effectively eliminate chromatin particles.

When consumed orally, the ‘R+Cu’ tablets produce oxygen radicals in the stomach, swiftly entering the bloodstream. These oxygen radicals play a crucial role in destroying circulating cfChPs, thereby preventing ‘Metastases’—the spread of cancer cells from one part of the body to another. The researchers asserted that R+Cu also acts as a preventive measure against chemotherapy toxicity. They aptly referred to this phenomenon as the “Magic of R+Cu” during their presentation.
This tablet is projected to decrease the side effects of cancer treatment therapy by approximately 50%, while exhibiting about 30% effectiveness in preventing cancer recurrence. Additionally, it shows promise in addressing pancreatic, lung, and oral cancers.
Tata doctors dedicated nearly a decade to developing this tablet. Currently, the tablet is pending approval from the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI). Scientists from TIFR have submitted an application to FSSAI for the approval of this groundbreaking tablet. Once approved, it is expected to hit the market by June-July. The senior cancer surgeon expressed optimism about the tablet, stating that it will significantly enhance cancer treatment.
“He mentioned that while treatment budgets typically range from lakhs to crores, this tablet will be accessible to everyone for just ₹ 100.”

Human trials are expected to take around five years to complete. We encountered challenges during the research; many doubted its potential and viewed it as a waste of time and resources. However, today, there is widespread joy and enthusiasm as we celebrate this significant achievement.”

This medicine came into existence then it would cater the demand of the market which is highly demanding and unaddressed.
