Mahua Moitra :- The case was filed following an FIR by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) against the ousted TMC legislator. The ED’s move happened after the 49-year-old politician missed the agency’s summons, which requested her presence for questioning at its office in Delhi.

Mahua Moitra :- The case was filed because of an FIR lodged by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) against the former TMC lawmaker. The ED took action after the 49-year-old politician didn’t attend the summons from the agency, which required her to come to their office in Delhi for questioning.
Moitra and businessman Darshan Hiranandani were asked to come for questioning by the ED regarding a case of breaking the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA).
The CBI searched her properties because of the cash-for-query case, following a directive from the Lokpal after BJP MP Nishikant Dubey accused her of wrongdoing.

Last year, Moitra was kicked out of the Lok Sabha by TMC and was renominated from Krishnanagar Lok Sabha constituency. She was caught taking money and gifts from Hiranandani in exchange for her Parliament login details.

The industrialist asked questions on her behalf about the Adani Group. A lawyer named Jai Anant Dehadrai first raised the issue, which was then sent to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla by BJP MP Nishikant Dubey.
The matter was sent to the ethics committee, which interviewed Nishikant Dubey, Dehadrai, and Moitra. After the interviews, the committee suggested her removal.
Moitra says she didn’t do anything wrong and believes she’s being singled out because she questioned the Adani Group’s deals.
“I see winning the election as a way to counter the attempts to expel and trouble me,” she stated, confident of winning the Lok Sabha elections. The voting in her Krishnanagar constituency is scheduled for May 13, with the results announced on June 4.
