CONGRESS drops supriya Shrinate, who ran for the Maharajganj seat in Uttar Pradesh in the 2019 polls but lost, did not appear on the Congress party’s list of eight candidates for the Lok Sabha election.

Supriya Shrinate got into trouble for a deleted social media post about Kangana Ranaut, a BJP candidate. She allegedly made an offensive comment about Ranaut. Later, Shrinate clarified that she wouldn’t say such things about a woman. She claimed a parody account misusing her name on Twitter (@Supriyaparody) started the issue and reported it.

Furthermore, Congress leader Sandeep Dixit mentioned that such language and remarks are unacceptable. He added that Supriya Shrinate has already explained her stance and is investigating the issue further.
In the meantime, the Election Commission has sent warning letters to Supriya Shrinate. They stated that her comment went against the Model Code of Conduct. The EC has requested a response to the letters by the evening of March 29.
