Citroen Basalt Coupe SUV:- Citroen India has just shown the Citroen Basalt Coupe SUV concept worldwide. It used to be called the C3X. This SUV will compete directly with the upcoming Tata Curvv. Citroen says they chose the name ‘Basalt’ because it’s like volcanic rock, symbolizing strength and timelessness. The Basalt will be made in India and sold in South America too. In this article, we’ll talk about the five most important things to know about it.

Citroen Basalt Coupe SUV:- Platform
The upcoming Citroen Basalt Coupe SUV will use the French automaker’s versatile CMP platform. It’s the fourth and last model on this platform, following the C3 and eC3 hatchbacks and the C3 Aircross SUV.
Citroen Basalt Coupe SUV:- Design.
In terms of looks, the front of the Basalt is much like the current C3 and C3 Aircross. It has some changes like a different style for the grille, the same chrome Chevron logo at the top, and a two-part grille with a silver skid plate. The LED daytime running lights and the hood design stay the same. But one upgrade is that the Basalt has projector headlights instead of the halogen lights found on other C-Cubed models.
On the sides, it has alloy wheels with many spokes, probably 17 inches, and noticeable squared-off wheel arches. The SUV keeps the pull-style door handles, and the window line slopes smoothly to the back. At the back, the trunk is higher than the hood, and it has a short rear with neat surfaces. It also has LED taillights that wrap around, a big silver skid plate, a shark fin antenna, and a two-tone bumper in black and silver.
Citroen Basalt Coupe SUV :- Interior
The inside of the Basalt will be shown later. We think it will be similar to the other C3 models. It might have a big touchscreen for entertainment and a digital display for the speedometer. Other features could include automatic climate control, technology to connect to the internet, wireless connections for Apple and Android phones, electric side mirrors, starting the car with a button, vents in the back for air conditioning, a system that keeps the car going at a steady speed, and more.
Citroen Basalt Coupe SUV :- Engine and gearbox
Regarding the engine, the Basalt might have the same 1.2-liter, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with 110 horsepower and 190 Newton-meters of torque. You can choose between a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
Citroen Basalt Coupe SUV :- IN INDIA
The Basalt will come out in India in the second part of 2024, and as we said, it will compete directly with the new Tata Curvv. It will also compete with other SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Volkswagen Taigun, Toyota Hyryder, Skoda Kushaq, MG Astor, and Honda Elevate. We think it will start at around Rs 8 lakh (ex-showroom).
