“Diljit Dosanjh Talks About Portraying Chamkila: Had to Learn Some New Things as a Musician”

“The great thing about acting is that you can begin with no experience,” says singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh, who had to let go of certain habits to portray the role of the late Punjabi musician Amar Singh Chamkila in the upcoming Imtiaz Ali movie.

Amar singh chamkila:- Dosanjh, known for his work in Punjabi and Hindi movies and as a musician worldwide, mentioned that he trusted Ali’s clear direction to bring Chamkila’s character to life on screen.

Amar singh Chamkila:- a popular singer who performed at street concerts in Punjab during the 1980s, was tragically killed along with his wife Amarjot in 1988.

Amar singh chamkila:- “I had to forget some things and begin again from the beginning. It’s a good thing for an artist to do. It can be hard because you might feel like you already know yourself well, but as an actor, you have the chance to start fresh, and I see that as a good opportunity,” Dosanjh explained .

The 40-year-old actor mentioned that he depended entirely on Ali to capture the details of Chamkila, who is known as one of Punjab’s greatest live-stage performers.
“I didn’t do much preparation for the movie; Imtiaz sir did a lot. He had a clear idea about Chamkila’s character. While I knew Chamkila as an artist, I didn’t know much about him as a person or how he performed on stage. Imtiaz sir helped me a lot.”

“I personally believe everyone knows about Chamkila. However, if there are some people who don’t know about him, then it’s an interesting story to watch. It’s not just the story of an artist but the story of a person, his journey, and what all happened in the 1980s in Punjab.
